Healthcare Shortage Creates Talent Opportunity

With Australia’s healthcare system under increasing pressure from another wave in Covid infections and a harsh flu season, demand for more Nurses and General Practitioners and other healthcare workers has been repeatedly highlighted.

Healthcare workers say they are struggling to care for patients with thousands of medical staff in Covid isolation as the Omicron variants continue to add pressure to Australia’s healthcare system.

According to the latest numbers on 19th July, 2,650 healthcare staff in New South Wales are currently in isolation and another 2,477 are isolating in Queensland as well as 1,873 in Victoria and 1,557 in Western Australia.

This current situation, whilst adverse, creates further opportunity for growth in the healthcare sector. There has been a call for an increase in skilled migrants and the government has listened, recently increasing the number of skilled migrants that will be accepted into Australia each year.

To help ease the urgent skills required, Australian immigration minister Andrew Giles has ordered Home Affairs to accelerate the visa application process, fast-tracking those of skilled immigrants into Australia.

The AOYE Group is committed to finding the talent to fill the skill shortage and support the healthcare sector during its time of need.
